The Green Jacket is not the only prize
Fantasy football managers might be tempted to have the occasional punt on other sporting events and if there is one month in the year when this is most likely to happen it has to be April. Not only is there the world’s greatest steeplechase, the Grand National, that manages to capture the imagination of almost everyone, but there is also the US Masters at Augusta National.
There’s just something about the golf season’s first major that has football fans and players itching to pick up a golf club.
The Masters is often referred to as ‘a tradition like no other’ and there are a number of variables that get the adrenaline flowing, making for compelling viewing. For fantasy sports fanatics in the UK, however, the emergence of DraftKings has added a whole new dimension to the race for that coveted Green Jacket. Their US Masters Fantasy Golf contest requires you to draft 6 golfers and there is an incredible $4m in prize money up for grabs, with $1m being awarded to the winning entry. You can buy into the tournament directly or try to win a seat by participating in any of the satellites that earn a ticket to the Augusta Contest from as little as $0.25.
Fantasy Golf works in a similar way to fantasy football. You are given a budget of $50,000 and are required to select 6 golfers, who each have their own valuation, without exceeding the limit. Each golfer in your line-up will score points for his actions based on hole by hole performance and his overall finishing position. He’ll score 3 points for each birdie, for example, and your final score will be the accumulation of the total points of your 6 selected golfers, who can also earn bonus points for feats such as a Hole in One. A huge field is expected for this prestigious event and if your team of golfers secures enough points to finish in the top 48,733 places you will be guaranteed at least a 50% return on your investment
As mentioned earlier, satellites are available within the DraftKings soccer contests lobby (FOT) from as little as $0.25, that can earn you a shot at this incredible prize. There are a number of 8 runner satellites with a buy-in of just $3 scheduled for Gameweek 32 that feature games played on Saturday 2nd April only, kicking off at 3pm UK time or later. The highest scoring entry will receive a ticket to the $4m contest so give it a go and remember to reference our invaluable goal projections when selecting your line-up to gauge how difficult fixtures are.
Here’s our provisional line-up and as always remember to exercise the late swap option if necessary.
