Ruthless Harry has trained on

At the start of the turf flat racing season there is always a question mark over the leading juveniles from the previous season. Will they have progressed and developed sufficiently over the winter to pose a threat in the upcoming classics? The term commonly used is ‘will they train on?’ Some do, whereas others don’t.

Similar questions were asked about Harry Kane at the start of the season, as to whether he would be a one-season wonder or go on to bigger and better things.

The Spurs forward has silenced the doubters in no uncertain terms, starting all 34 English Premier League matches. By comparison he only made 28 starts during the 2014/15 campaign , with the other 6 being cameo substitute appearances. His stats speak for themselves and they are almost on a par with what he achieved last season as highlighted by the Oulala infographic below.

It could be argued that he is not providing as many assists as he did last time round but there is a ruthlessness about Kane that has seen his shots per game ratio increase from 3.3 to 4.1. He has an appetite and a desire, that is mirrored by the rest of his team-mates, which may yet see him picking up a Premier League winners medal, come the end of the season.

His work-rate is highly impressive, suggesting that he developed physically during the close-season and he still manages to complete a full 90 minutes more times than not.

It’s the Baggies up next for Tottenham Hotspur as they continue to chase down Leicester City – don’t be too surprised if Kane adds to his blossoming goals column!
