Premier League Fantasy Preview: Tottenham Hotspur

Fantasy Football Portal - Tottenham-Hotspur

10 years have passed since Spurs picked up their last piece of silverware and honours continue to elude them despite being blessed with a golden generation of players.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side came up just short in their quest for the Premier League trophy in both the 2015/16 and 2016/17 campaigns despite boasting a catalogue of impressive stats.

No other side conceded fewer goals in either season, while Tottenham also had a real cutting edge to their play, surpassing the 500 mark for key passes in both campaigns, again season-leading figures.

However, they failed to get over the line on both occasions, as their title challenges petered out down the home stretch.

Spurs may need to get themselves into the winner’s enclosure sooner rather than later, otherwise star players such as Harry Kane may look to instigate moves away from North London.

Transfers

Incoming transfers tend to be wise rather than glamorous, with Pochettino mostly preferring to work with and improve the group of talented young players he already has, However, this reluctance to compete with the rest of the Big 6 hasn’t stopped Spurs from impressing with their incisive football.

Lucas Moura is the latest addition, joining the club in the January transfer window, having failed to get a look in at PSG following the arrival of Kylian Mbappé and he looks sure to be a great bench option with his electric pace,
while Davinson Sanchez, Serge Aurier and Fernando Llorente are all settling in well having arrived earlier in the season.

Likely tactics and formation

Pochettino is another Premier League disciple of the 4-2-3-1 formation, with his teams typically pressing the opposition high up the field in a bid to win the ball back in dangerous areas.

Spurs like to move the ball quickly, often taking risks and they will try to free striker Harry Kane as early as possible, while Dele Alli is another player in the team who needs no second invitations to go for goal.

A pair of deep-lying midfielders add a layer of protection to one of the league’s most solid defences…..
