Transfers
Transfers work in basically the same way as they do in the real football world, as a mechanism to bring players in and out of your fantasy football team.
In the official Fantasy Premier League game, which runs throughout the league season, players are given unlimited transfers to use before the first Gameweek kicks off, which means players can tinker with their selections as much as they like.
Once the season is underway, players are awarded only one free transfer for each Gameweek, which means it is something necessary to plan ahead, particularly in the build-up to a Double Gameweek, although free transfers can also be rolled over – once – to the next week.
Thinking carefully before making transfers is a must, as after the freebies have been used up each one takes four points off a player’s score. It is therefore only worth paying the price for a transfer if you are absolutely certain the man being brought into your side is going to score more than four points, otherwise you will be worse off.
Paying for transfers is a risk that can sometimes come off – for instance in making changes to a squad ahead of a Double Gameweek – but these gambles can also backfire, so take time to consider the possible outcomes before confirming the acceptance of points deductions.
Another thing to consider when making transfers is how player prices change during the season. Ideally, users will bring players in when they are at a low price, then they come into form and their cost goes up. However, when trading players out, a 50% price levy is charged on the sale profit.
As an example: if you sign Jamie Vardy for £9.0m then he rises in value to £10.0m and you want to sell him, you would receive £9.5m back into your playing budget to spend.
