Sergio Garcia And The Claret Jug
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
It couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy
I am not sure if you have noticed but Sergio Garcia, the likeable Spaniard who finally broke his major duck earlier in the year, is rather proud of his green jacket! He’s been seen wearing it at football matches, at Wimbledon and who knows, he may even wear it when he walks the dog every Sunday morning!
Sergio and the Open have history….lots of history! It is probably the golfing equivalent of Brad and Jen! No matter what else he did in his career, the showdown against Padraig could never be shaken. Or so it seemed, however, his victory at the Masters finally means that it can be dropped, for both the public and Sergio himself!
Now, the big question is what lies in store for the man who has lifted the weight off his shoulders of that everlasting burden? Will Sergio become the multiple major winner that a man of his calibre deserves? Possibly and if there is a tournament that Sergio still needs closure on it is at the Open Championship.
Recent form
In the subsequent 5 tournaments Sergio has played, since picking up the green jacket, he has made the cut in every single one. However, he has not made the top 10 in any. This suggests that he is still striking the ball well and is simmering away.
In the 2017 calendar his average score is an impressive 69.05 per round.
Horses for courses
With a game which is a perfect fit for links, where the fairways are tight with plenty of traps, Sergio has all the tools needed for a strong performance. Expect his form and confidence to continue into the weekend, making him an ideal selection for the Category A players in Fanto’s Open Golf Fantasy Contests.
Fantasy Golf
Fantasy Open 2017 has games which could suit every type of fantasy sports player. Picking a team couldn’t be simpler without budgets at Fanto.
If Sergio is in contention at the start on Sunday that “green jacket” confidence could be just what he needs to put to bed that 8 foot miss on the Carnoustie course back in 2007.
