Ruben Is Russia Bound

Can Loftus-Cheek do enough to warrant his inclusion in Southgate’s World Cup squad?

At the start of the campaign Ruben Loftus-Cheek seemed to be every Fantasy Premier League manager’s favourite budget midfielder. Big things were expected but the youngster has struggled with injuries, limiting his playing time to just 17 Premier League starts.

However, his return to fitness couldn’t have come at a better time for Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson and a place in Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad is very much up for grabs.

England lack creativity and Loftus-Cheek could be the man to provide it.

We’re also banking on the Chelsea loanee producing the goods in GW35 as we look to assemble a line-up (let’s call them the ‘Magnificent Seven’) that can repel all the ‘Free Hit’ teams that are set to be unveiled this weekend!

Yes, we are down to the bare bones and only have the ‘Triple Captain’ chip left in our locker so a bit of ‘outside of the box’ thinking is needed.

Paul Pogba and Pascal Gross are the men to make way with Leroy Sané joining Loftus-Cheek in our engine room for a -4.

If James Tarkowski fails a late fitness test, we will be without any recognised defender and only have 7 players remaining with a GW35 fixture.

Liverpool’s leaked line-up suggests that Mo Salah will start but we’re sticking with our decision to abandon the Egyptian international, instead opting to pin our hopes on another Merseyside legend in the making!

Yes, Big Duncan Ferguson has been singing the praises of Everton’s Cenk Tosun, much to the amusement of the Goodison faithful.

The Turkish striker is our differential captain for GW35 so let’s hope that he can ‘stick it in’ once or twice on Monday when the Toffees entertain Newcastle United!

Tosun spearheads our attack alongside Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who is expected to line-up for an Arsenal side that will soon begin life after Arsene. The Gunners entertain West Ham at the Emirates and goals are anticipated.

Neither player will be going to Russia due to their nations’ failure to qualify but one player we are expecting to see in the finals is Loftus Cheek. Over to you Ruben!
