Keeping Your Powder Dry
No FPL transfers made ahead of Gameweek 24
Prior to Gameweek 23, you might recall that we raised concerns about how much playing time Junior Stanislas, Kevin Mirallas and Eden Hazard were being afforded and those concerns certainly turned out to be justified, as all three players failed to see out the full 90 minutes.
The knee-jerk reaction would be to make changes but Hazard, who may not be 100% fit, has a couple of softish-looking fixtures approaching, while Stanislas and Mirallas play for sides that are guaranteed to be involved in Fantasy Premier League action when those pivotal blank gameweeks occur in weeks 26 and 28.
All three get a stay of execution and we have decided to save our free transfer this week, even though we were tempted to take a speculative punt on Daryl Janmaat, who could play in an advanced forward role against Burnley on Saturday. Antonio Valencia would have been the man to make way but the Ecuadorian keeps his place – for now!
We’ve shuffled our pack a bit but will play our familiar 3-4-3, with Harry Kane taking over the armband duties this weekend.
Zlatan Ibrahimović failed to produce on Wednesday despite his standout credentials, so we’re hoping the Spurs’ hitman can make a better fist of it in GW24!
So, no transfers this week but will we regret keeping our powder dry for another day?
