Is uncapped Alex Klopp’s missing jewel ?
Liverpool’s reported £28-million bid for Alex Texieira was rejected by Shakthar Donetsk meaning that they have now had two bids turned down. The Ukrainian club are still holding out for their much higher valuation of £38-million. But just why do Donetsk rate their forward so highly?
Fantasy Football game www.oulala.com have compared Teixeira’s prolific goal scoring form against that of the top goalscorers from across Europe’s top leagues.
At 26-years-old, Texieira has erupted late on to the mainstream of football, however the Brazilian has scored an amazing 22 goals in 15 league matches with the Ukrainian outfit this season.
He has scored more goals than any other player from any of Europe’s top leagues this term, beating the likes of Luis Suarez (19) and Gonzalo Higuain (21).
What is even more impressive is his goals per game ratio. When compared to the top goalscorers from Europe’s biggest leagues, Teixeira has played the least amount of games (15). Oulala’s stats show that he has a goals per game ratio of 1.47.
Interestingly enough Teixeira has never been capped with Brazil’s national side. However, a move to one of Europe’s top sides could soon change that. According to the Daily Mail, Teixeira has expressed interest to play in England telling Brazilian newspaper Globo Esporte ‘it is my desire to move to a big league and I know that the English league is very strong’.
The uncapped Brazilian transferred from his childhood club, Vasco De Gama, to Shakthar Donetsk back in 2010. Therefore as of yet, Teixeira has never had a chance to prove his credentials in Europe’s top leagues. It is for this reason that perhaps the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea are weary of forking out Donetsk’s valuation of £38-million.
However, Shakthar Donetsk are no push overs themselves after narrowly losing out to Real Madrid in a Champions League match after being 4-0 down, pulling it back to 4-3. The man himself was on the score-sheet that day. If Liverpool fail to buy Teixeira before the end of the January Transfer Window then they could potentially come up against him and his side in the Europa League. In Europe this season Teixeira has scored three goals in six appearances.
