EPL Gameweek 2 Goal Projections

Your Fantasy Premier League game difficulty guide for Gameweek 2

If you checked out our goal projections for Gameweek 1 you might recall that we highlighted how Manchester City had the most favourable fixture. It was therefore no surprise to see Sergio Agüero selected in over 46% of Fantasy Premier League teams and the Argentinian striker did not disappoint, converting from the penalty spot after just 4 minutes.

However, in Gameweek 2 Man City travel to the Bet365 Stadium to face a Stoke City that are always a difficult opponent on their home turf. The Citizens also have a midweek Champions League game to negotiate, a trip to Romania for a qualifying tie against Steaua Bucharest.

It’s therefore not surprising to see a few other Premier League clubs with higher projected goal figures in Gameweek 2.

Manchester United entertain Southampton in the first Friday Night Football of the new season, so bear this in mind when selecting those line-ups – the deadline for the Official Fantasy Premier League game will be at 19:00 on the 19th August, while a number of daily fantasy football contests that include the Man Utd game will also close at kick-off or before.

Man Utd, Spurs and Liverpool are the sides with the highest goal expectancies this week but Tottenham Hotspur look the pick of the bunch.

Spurs season fell apart in May and they looked like they were suffering a bit of a hangover in the first half at Goodison Park on the opening day. However, after the interval they were a side transformed and could easily have come away with all 3 points. Crystal Palace will be the visitors to the Lane in Gameweek 2 and the Eagles attacking limitations will not have been helped by the sale of Yannick Bolasie. This looks a great opportunity for the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen to rack up a big fantasy score.

Moussa Dembélé, Tottenham’s highest rated player by WhoScored in 2015/16, is in the middle a prolonged suspension but Kane in particular will be eager to silence the doubters, after a poor showing for England at the European Championships.

Is last season’s Golden Boot winner Kane the best fantasy pick for Gameweek 2 ?
