Champions to test Reds’ home record

Liverpool versus Chelsea headlines GW13 Premier League action

Liverpool’s defensive frailties were on show yet again on Tuesday when they squandered a 3 goal lead in Sevilla, so the Reds will need to pick up at least a point from their final Champions League group game with Spartak Moscow to book their place in the knockout phase of the competition.

The much-maligned Alberto Moreno bore the brunt of the criticism, with Roy Keane vociferously tearing into the Spanish full-back. Moreno was hauled off after 63 minutes and earned his lowest WhoScored rating of the season (5.98), so it will be fascinating to see if Jürgen Klopp persists with him this weekend against champions’ Chelsea.

Liverpool do have an impressive home record this season. They have turned Anfield into a bit of a fortress and the aforementioned Moreno has completed the 90 minutes in each of the 10 Premier League games he has started this season but Saturday’s visitors look more than capable of pinpointing any weaknesses.

The Blues have recorded back to back 4-0 victories, with Eden Hazard seemingly back to his brilliant best.

Goals are expected in this one and judging by the latest Premier League goal expectancies it would be a surprise if either side managed to keep a clean sheet.

West Ham United entertain Leicester City in the Friday Night Football, so there will be an early gameweek deadline for Fantasy Premier League managers to contend with in many contests.

David Moyes knows that a win will be enough to see the Hammers move out of the relegation zone but the Foxes certainly won’t be any pushovers and this one looks too tight to call.

There are 3 games scheduled for Sunday including Southampton at home to an Everton side that has just registered the worst home defeat by an English club in UEFA Cup history. The Toffees were humiliated by Atalanta, losing 5-1 at Goodison Park, prolonging their dismal Europa League campaign.

Can the two Merseyside clubs get back to winning ways in GW13?
