Time To Stop The Rot

GW19 FPL Selections

It was a short-lived FPL Cup campaign. Missed penalties from Christian Benteke and Harry Kane saw to that, meaning that we can now focus our entire attention on the league and attempt to arrest a somewhat alarming slide.

We need points and we need them fast!

As we approach the half-way point of the season, Spurs are again boasting some impressive stats. They now have a better ‘shots on target’ supremacy figure than any other side in the division, a statistic that should really see them sitting closer to the top of the table. However, like Manchester United, they have drawn far too many games that they should have won.

Southampton had kept 7 clean sheets this season and conceded just 5 goals at home prior to Tottenham’s visit on Wednesday, so it was quite some effort from Spurs to smash in 4 goals on top of Kane’s amusing penalty miss.

We liked what we saw and it’s enough for Kane to wrestle the arm-band back from Eden Hazard and we’re expecting the England striker to produce the goods again at Watford on New Year’s Day.

Bringing in Manuel Lanzini has proved to be a bit of a disaster. Not only did Mark Noble reclaim spot-kick taking honours from the West Ham United play-maker but then, to make matters worse, the Argentinian midfielder picked up an injury.

He may be back in contention this weekend but we’re going to transfer him out anyway and pin our hopes on a differential pick – Everton’s Kevin Mirallas.

The Toffees get the GW19 action under way, when they travel to bottom club Hull City on Friday evening and we’re banking on the Belgian winger adding to the 2 goals he has scored already this season.

Middlesbrough have a very low goals expectancy at Old Trafford so Álvaro Negredo drops to the bench, meaning that we will field a somewhat unconventional 4-4-2 in GW19.
