Time To Fulfil FPL Promise
Can Iheanacho seize his chance in Gameweek 15?
With Sergio Agüero beginning a 4-match ban and Charlie Austin having picked up a shoulder injury in Southampton’s Europa League game with Hapoel Be’er Sheva, ruling him out of the weekend game with Middlesbrough, Fantasy Premier League managers have plenty to ponder in terms of their striking options ahead of GW15.
It was perhaps with a touch of fortune that we replaced Agüero with Harry Kane before the Gameweek 14 deadline but the Austin situation will need to be addressed and to make matters worse, Boro manager Aitor Karanka has also confirmed that Álvaro Negredo, the other cog in our current 3-man FPL attack, is nursing a slight hamstring strain, making him a doubt for Sunday’s match with the Saints.
Kelechi ‘Promise’ Iheanacho should lead the Manchester City attack at the King Power Stadium but he’s certainly a risky line-up proposition based on Pep Guardiola’s incessant need to rotate.
Jermain Defoe, Callum Wilson and Divock Origi all make plenty of appeal but we’re going to transfer in the young Nigerian forward, in the hope he can deliver on his early promise, with Manchester City again expected to be amongst the goals in Gameweek 15.
Chris Brunt drops to the bench as we put the emphasis on clean sheets, meaning that Michael Keane will slot in alongside Marcus Alonso and Antonio Valencia in defence, while Andros Townsend gets yet another stay of execution and the nod over İlkay Gündoğan in midfield, hoping that he can exploit Hull City’s troublesome left-back area which looks decidedly vulnerable. Gündoğan may be needed, though, if Negredo fails to shake off his hamstring problem in time.
Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne takes the arm-band for GW15.
Will our rookie strikers deliver or is it a gamble too far?
