The Fun And Games Begin

There’s still plenty to play for as the 2017/18 Fantasy Premier League season reaches its finale

The international break may have given Fantasy Premier League managers some welcome respite but things are about to heat up as the season finale draws ever closer.

This is the time of the year when most of those precious ‘chips‘ will be deployed in what the majority of managers hope will be season-defining moves.

The announcement of some rearranged fixtures have triggered another double gameweek and the confirmation of the next blank gameweek has had many managers scrambling to play the ‘wildcard’ but we’ve decided to keep that particular chip in our pocket for one more gameweek.

Our thinking was two-fold

Firstly, Sunday’s Chelsea vs Spurs clash will have a huge bearing on ‘motivation’ for the remainder of the season and secondly, we are fairly content with the line-up that we can put out in GW32. Utilising the solitary free transfer, we’ve decided to hang fire and see how that particular match unfolds before activating the ‘wildcard’ chip.

Our main concern going into GW32 rests between the sticks. Adrián now seems to have slipped back down the pecking order at West Ham, with Joe Hart back in favour, so do we really want to go with England international Jordan Pickford against a Manchester City side that are just 2 wins away from securing the title?

The short answer is no, so with 2 double gameweeks on the horizon and a fine chance of a clean sheet against Swansea City this weekend,  David de Gea looks like the ideal replacement and he comes in at the West Ham stopper’s expense.

Elsewhere, Richarlison has been a thorn in our side for far too long, so we’re expecting GW32 to be his swansong. He may be the ‘most fouled’ player in the Premier League this season but he has blanked in his last 10 starts, while another of our midfielders, Wilfried Zaha, will have to pass a fitness test ahead of the Eagles’ clash with Liverpool.

However, if either of them miss out, we’re more than happy to give Cenk Tosun his chance. The Everton striker is in-form and he will surely relish the chance of putting a dent in City’s stroll to the title.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang gets the armband, with Arsenal hosting a Stoke City side that have conceded more goals than anybody else.

That’s our provisonal line-up for GW32 but we will be keeping a close eye on players returning from international duty, to see if any other changes are required.
