‘Special’ Plans
Will José Mourinho single out Mo Salah for some special attention in GW30?
Two of English football’s fiercest rivals are set to meet on Saturday as Manchester United and Liverpool renew hostilities at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils had Nemanja Matić to thank for going back above Liverpool in the Premier League table, with the Serbian international scoring his first goal for the club in stoppage time at Selhurst Park on Monday.
However, even though our GW30 goal projections suggest that there is little to choose between the two sides, the vibe surrounding them couldn’t be more contrasting.
Jürgen Klopp’s free-scoring side almost picks itself and there is a fluidity about their football that supporters at the other end of the East Lancs Road can only sit back and envy.
United, on the other hand, are far from the finished article, with Mourinho having assembled a group of individuals that resembles nothing like a team.
Record-signing Paul Pogba continues to frustrate, while new signing Alexis Sánchez looks completely lost and squanders possession far too frequently.
On the plus side, the United boss will have been encouraged by the character his side showed when coming back from 2 goals down on Monday as well as their formidable home record, with United having conceded just 6 times in the Premier League this season, a statistic that should also stand them in good stead for the visit of the Merseysiders.
The big question ahead of the weekend clash without doubt though is whether Mourinho will single out Mo Salah for some special attention. It’s a tactic he used to good effect in United’s recent victory over Chelsea, as Scott McTominay was given the job of nullifying the threat of Eden Hazard.
The Reds’ Egyptian international as been in sensational form all season and he remains firmly on course to smash the record of most points registered by an individual player in a Fantasy Premier League season.
Man United versus Liverpool is the pick of the GW30 fixtures – can the home side keep Salah quiet to claim a victory and move 5 points ahead of their North-West rivals?
