Predatory Rashford Rushing to Stardom

Rashford stats suggest much more is to come

It may only have been a pre-season friendly against Galatasaray but Marcus Rashford produced a moment of magic that even encouraged the great Zlatan Ibrahimović to get on his feet and join in the applause.

When sublime skill is mixed with such devastating pace it can be a site to behold and it certainly raised expectations among Manchester United fans ahead of the new season.

18 year old Rashford first burst onto the scene last season, scoring 5 Premier League goals from 11 appearances. Such was his impact that he even forced his way into Roy Hodgson’s Euro 2016 plans.

José Mourinho has bided his time with the youngster since taking over but Rashford did come off the bench to score a last-gasp winner at Watford.

After starting and scoring in last weekend’s 4-1 win over champions Leicester City, a prolonged run in the first team now looks a distinct possibility, especially with an under-pressure Wayne Rooney seemingly consigned to the substitutes’ bench.

Oulala have examined all of the goalscorers in the 2016/17 Premier League season to date and Rashford sits in 3rd place for his minutes per goal ratio.

The in-form Son Heung-min leads the way, while Sergio Agüero’s goalscoring record speaks for itself but Rashford is weighing in with an impressive goal every 79 minutes, with the promise of much more to come.
