When you click on a contest, you will see a pop-up window that gives you a quick summary of the competition including which matches you will be able to select players from, prize money breakdown and so on.

Once you are ready, click on ‘Enter’ to begin the team selection process. However, before you begin choosing your players, you might want to familiarize yourself with the fantasy points scoring system used on TheSix.

How do my players earn fantasy points at TheSix

Now if you read our review of TheSix, you will know that they have one of the most sophisticated scoring systems available to aspiring managers, with fantasy points awarded for a plethora of actions that include the likes of interceptions, duels won, shots and so on.

It’s therefore imperative that you do a bit of groundwork before selecting your side. But here’s a detailed summary of how your players can earn those fantasy points at TheSix.

How to select your team to play TheSix

Once your chosen contest has loaded, you will be presented with the team selection page. You will immediately notice a list of players and an empty pitch. Your job is to fill that pitch with the 11 players of your choice, while staying within the €100M budget.

You have 7 playing formations to choose from:

  • 3-5-2
  • 3-4-3
  • 4-3-3
  • 4-4-2
  • 4-5-1
  • 5-3-2
  • 5-4-1

Without doubt, one of the key strengths of this platform, is the filter options available to you when selecting your line-up. All the matches that make up the contest are displayed across the top and you can choose just to see players from 1 or more of the teams involved.

You can filter by starting position or search for a player by name. Alternatively, you can narrow the search criteria by including/excluding players from a particular price bracket, their perceived value to a manager, the likelihood that they will be in the starting XI for their side or via a range of fantasy points accrued from their most recent fixtures.

By clicking on a player, you will get an overview of his performance stats. Once you decide to add him to your line-up, click on his valuation – it’s highlighted in green to the right of his name, He will then be added to the pitch. Your remaining budget will auto-adjust and then you move on to picking your next player. Complete the process until your line-up is complete and remember to nominate a captain since this player will receive an additional 20% bonus on top of the fantasy points he accumulates.

Once you are happy with your line-up click ‘Enter’ to complete your entry.

There is even the option to ‘Auto-fill’, whereby a random line-up will be assigned to you. This may be an option if you are short of time and keen to have some involvement in a particular contest.

Live Scoring on TheSix

Once you have entered a tournament on TheSix, it will appear within the ‘My Contests’ tab.

This is where you can see an historical record of:

  • Contests you have entered
  • A list of upcoming tournaments that you may have submitted a line-up for
  • A list of contests actually ‘in-play’ (live at that particular moment).

With such a comprehensive scoring system, ‘live scoring’ certainly takes on added significance at TheSix, so make sure you follow the progress of your players by clicking on the appropriate contest once the action begins to unfold.

Don’t forget that your job is to score more points than all of the opposing managers that have pitted their wits against you in this particular contest!

Play TheSix – Summary

There are a couple of other tabs worth mentioning. ‘Earn Cash’ enables you to pick up a bonus for any friends that you may refer and is pretty self explanatory, while the ‘FAQs’ and ‘Rules’ sections cover many of the items we have highlighted in this ‘learn to play’ guide.

TheSix have really worked hard on their interface making it one of the most user friendly fantasy football games around.

They could be on to a real winner with this game format so feel free to let us know what your opinion is once you’ve given it a try!
