Is The Dabberman Running Out Of Moves?
Lack of playing time a worry for Jesse Lingard ‘owners’
As we look ahead to GW28 of the Fantasy Premier League season, one of the big questions that needs to be answered is whether or not we should ditch Jesse ‘The Dabberman‘ Lingard?
We had hoped that the arrival of Alexis Sánchez would see a spike in the creativity figures that Manchester United produce but it seems that the reverse has happened. The Red Devils have failed to register more than 7 key passes in any of their last 5 matches in all competitions, with Sánchez and Romelu Lukaku both guilty of squandering possession on numerous occasions.
Lingard’s game minutes have also suffered as a result. He was an unused substitute in Seville, only appeared for 9 minutes against Huddersfield Town in the Cup and was hooked after 63, 65 and 66 minutes in United’s previous 3 league games.
It’s anybody’s guess as to what system José Mourinho will go with against Chelsea and whether Lingard, who has only picked up a total of 12 FPL points from the last 5 gameweeks, will be included but we’re going to give him another chance to showcase his talent!
Sometimes the FPL Gods can conspire against you, so when you see Olivier Giroud popping up with a goal and 2 assists against Hull in a FA Cup tie, 4 days after you took a captaincy punt on him, you simply have to take it on the chin.
The Frenchman’s stay in our squad was expected to be short and he makes way this week for Jamie Vardy, who has a nice run of fixtures before a blank in GW31.
Given that we already own Roberto Firmino, our thinking is that Vardy is much more likely to rack up points over the next 3 gameweeks, compared with what the pick of the other GW31 striking options may achieve, even if they play 4 times between GW28 and GW31.
Despite the obvious claims of Mo Salah, our GW28 armband goes to Firmino as we look to differentiate our line-up slightly against the masses.
Liverpool could score heavily on Saturday and we’re banking on Liverpool’s Brazilian forward being in the thick of the action.
GW28 promises to be a cracker – let’s hope that a few of our picks will be in the thick of the goal celebrations!
