ICC Champions Trophy Final Preview – India v Pakistan
Fiercest Rivals set for ICC Champions Trophy Final
And so to the final – and it’s between the fiercest of rivals, India and Pakistan.
India will be looking for a repeat of their opening group encounter, which they won emphatically by 124 runs (D/L). Pakistan, who’ve been playing far better since that humiliation, will be out for revenge. Who will triumph in what will be a red hot atmosphere at the Oval? It seems like it will be a mighty battle between India’s prolific batting line-up and Pakistan’s dangerous bowling attack.
Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma have been spectacular at the top of the order for India, with both having scored over 300 runs in the tournament to date, while captain Virat Kohli has chipped in with 253 runs in four games. For Pakistan, Azhar Ali and Fakhar Zaman have made the biggest contributions.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s bowlers have been dominant. Hasan Ali tops the bowling ranks, with 10 wickets overall, ably supported by Junaid Khan, who has 7 scalps. India’s bowling stars have been Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah.
For India, Ravi Jadeja has been vital in the allrounder role, whilst Mohammad Hafeez has batted and bowled well for Pakistan.
Both sides are blessed with outstanding wicket-keeper batsmen. Sarfraz Ahmed has 5 dismissals to his name do far, along with 76 vital runs, whilst MS Dhoni is close behind, with 4 victims behind the stumps and 63 runs with the bat.
