Man Utd, Spurs and Arsenal already playing catch up

With Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City setting a strong pace at the top, the pressure is already mounting on Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.

As we look forward to the GW6 fixtures, none of this trio can really afford to slip up again if they want to remain in the hunt for the Premier League title.

United are up against a Wolverhampton Wanderers side that is living up to much of the pre-season hype. An xGA (expected goals against) of just 3.80 from their opening 5 games, highlights just how difficult Wolves are to break down and this is exactly the sort of test that has found United wanting in recent seasons.

Spurs look a shadow of the side that ran out easy 3-0 winners at Old Trafford earlier in the season and find themselves in the middle of a crisis, having lost their last 3 matches, so a trip to the Amex is sure to test their mental strength.

Harry Kane continues to look a shadow of his former self, having accumulated just 12 shots in Spurs’ opening 5 matches, a far cry from the 5.32 he was averaging every 90 minutes last season.

The mood is a bit more optimistic at the Emirates where goals are expected at both ends (see table above) when they entertain Everton on Sunday.

The Gunners have won their last 3 Premier League games, after being given a rough role of the dice with a fixture list that saw them having to face champions’ Manchester City and Chelsea in their first 2 matches.

Chelsea lead the pack on goal difference after 5 rounds but that could all change on Saturday if Mo Salah, GW6’s top-rated captaincy candidate, rediscovers his scoring touch to quieten some of the doubters.
