GW29 Captain – Fantasy Football Advice

Our GW29 Armband advice suggests that it is difficult to ignore the claims of Salah and Kane

Mo Salah and Harry Kane are once again set to be the most popular captaincy choices across Fantasy Premier League contests in GW29. The duo continue to battle it out at the top of the Golden Boot rankings, the award given to the player that scores the most league goals and neither player seems keen on taking his foot of the gas.

Salah and Kane were the two top-rated armband contenders in GW28 and they both delivered. Kane struck late on to seal all 3 points for Spurs at Selhurst Park on Sunday, while Salah also got himself on the score-sheet while chipping in with an assist as Liverpool ran out easy 4-1 winners over West Ham United at Anfield on Saturday.

The Reds welcome Newcastle United to Anfield for a fixture that will always be remembered for Kevin Keegan’s meltdown following a 4-3 thriller back in 1996, while Tottenham entertain Huddersfield Town at Wembley.

It could be argued that Salah has the edge this weekend. Spurs were involved in an FA Cup replay with Rochdale on Wednesday where Kane was an unused sub and the clash with the Terriers comes just 4 days before the return leg of their Champions League knock-out tie with Juventus. Liverpool should be the much fresher side and already have one foot in the quarter finals of the Champions League themselves, after putting Porto to the sword in the 1st leg of their ’round of 16′ tie.

If you are looking for advice with more of a contrarian angle then perhaps Jamie Vardy is your man. The Foxes’ striker has scored in 5 of his last 6 Premier League starts and he is sure to fancy his chances of finding the back of the net again this weekend.

Leicester City host a Bournemouth side that has the highest xGA figure (expected goals against) of all Premier League clubs so far this season, so chances are almost certain to fall in Vardy’s path. If he can take them, he might just prove himself to be the perfect differential!

Spurs and Liverpool are expected to score heavily in GW29 – will you go with one of the tried and tested duo or are you prepared to ignore that advice and go against the crowd a bit?
