Ronaldo out to quieten Griezmannia
The Number 7s
Prior to the Euro 2016 semi-finals we looked at the candidates for ‘Player of the Tournament‘. We now find ourselves with two realistic contenders but Antoine Griezmann is a red-hot favourite after his performance against Germany. The French forward scored a brace, making it 6 goals in total for the tournament and he is now priced at 2/5 by the bookmakers to scoop that MVP award. Cristiano Ronaldo rose magnificently to head Portugal into the lead against Wales but he will have to be at his best again, if Portugal are to prevent hosts France from claiming the Euro 2016 title.
Oulala have compared the two number 7s ahead of Sunday’s final in Paris.
Griezmann has outperformed Ronaldo in a number of key areas but if there is one thing we know about the Real Madrid striker, it is his ability to respond to a challenge. Ronaldo might see this has his last chance of securing a title with the national side, to add to his incredible club football collection and the prospect of doing it in front of the host nation’s fans is an opportunity he would not want to miss.
Goal projections for the Euro 2016 final
France defended resolutely against Germany, limiting Die Mannschaft to just 5 shots on target, despite seeing only 33% of the ball. The hosts have been installed as 1/2 a goal favorite against Portugal, in what promises to be another cagey encounter.
Expect possession to be more equally distributed in the final, in a game that is likely to be decided by small margins. It could be a costly mistake such as the one Bastian Schweinsteiger made in the semi-final or a moment of magic, which both Ronaldo and Griezmann are more than capable of producing!
