Stack
To stack a daily fantasy football team means to have a number of different players from the same team in your lineup, usually because you are expecting them to have a big win in their game.
Stacking can be a high-risk strategy, but to have success in the most popular daily fantasy football tournaments, which may have hundreds or even thousands of entrants, it is necessary to take some gambles to get ahead of the rest.
Let’s say for example that the top team in the Premier League is playing at home against the division’s worst side. You might think it is fair to assume that this is going to be an easy win.
You may therefore decide to stack your side with players from the league’s top side, so that if they do get that comfortable victory, you get as many points as possible out of that match.
The risk to stacking is obvious – football matches are notoriously hard to predict and even a game it looks like a team cannot fail to win sometimes goes the other way and shocks everyone.
When stacking players, it is also a good idea to find combinations that tend to team up well, for example Manchester City’s David Silva and Sergio Agüero, or Tottenham’s Harry Kane with Dele Alli. That way you might just score points for both goals and assists if their teams score heavily.
Daily fantasy football games often restrict you to picking a certain number of players from one club, which is usually set at three or sometimes four, so there is only so much stacking you can do.
Stacking is very much an advanced daily fantasy football strategy and not one beginners should leap into without being confident in what they are doing.
This is as it is vital to select both the right fixture and the correct team for a stack to result in a big cash win for your fantasy football team.
