DraftKings adds Liga MX and Europa League contests
Leading daily fantasy football company DraftKings has added Liga MX and the Europa League to the list of tournaments users can play with on the site.
DraftKings, which is one of the world’s top daily fantasy football operators, launched in the UK just a few weeks ago but has quickly moved to increase the range of competitions it offers.
The addition of the Europa League to its list of games comes at a perfect time as the tournament has reached its round-of-16 stage with massive ties such as Liverpool v Manchester United and Tottenham v Borussia Dortmund.
“We are increasing our product depth, adding more leagues and contests that appeal to our growing global market,” said Jeffrey Haas, chief international officer at DraftKings.
“Football, as we all know, is the world’s favourite sport and we are proud to see so many daily fantasy football players using DraftKings as their second screen on match days to increase their engagement with and enjoyment of the sports they love.”
DraftKings already offered daily fantasy football contests involving the Premier League, MLS and UEFA Champions League, as well as eSports games like League of Legends and major sports including NHL, NBA, the PGA Tour, MMA and NFL.
Liverpool, who beat Manchester United 2-0 in the first leg of their Europa League clash this week, is one of the major clubs DraftKings already has an official partnership with, becoming the Premier League side’s Official Daily Fantasy Sports Partner in February.
DraftKings’ chief executive officer Jason Robins said: “We are really excited to be partnering with one of the biggest clubs in English football. Their world-renowned passionate fan base provides us with a great opportunity to engage with new audiences.
“DraftKings is an innovative way to play fantasy football and fans are going to love it.”
Liverpool FC’s chief commercial officer Billy Hogan added: “DraftKings’ daily fantasy platform brings a whole new dynamic to the fantasy football we’re all familiar with.
“They have a partnership with the Red Sox at Fenway Park so we’re excited to have them extend their relationship with FSG to Liverpool FC as well. We’re delighted to be leading the way in becoming one of DraftKings first football partnerships and we look forward to a long and successful relationship.”
UK players were given access to DraftKings recently, with the daily fantasy football website also announcing partnership deals with Premier League clubs Watford and Arsenal.
Watch out for their #BeatTheBulldog contests and King of the Pitch qualifiers as well.
