Qatar set for World Cup

The FIFA World Cup 2022 is being held in Qatar and kicks off on the 20^th of November at the Al Bayt Stadium. Qatar won the privilege to host the World Cup on the fourth ballot beating Australia, Japan, South Korea, and the United States and this will be the first tournament to be hosted in the Middle East and the first to be held at the end of the year.

The World Cup is set to be hosted in eight stadiums across five cities in Qatar.

Similar to the previous six World Cups since 1998, the 2022 tournament will feature 32 teams, however, 42 teams are expected to compete in the next World Cup.

The 32 teams are made up of nations that advanced through a regional qualifying competition. The World Cup draw is broken down into groups from A to H, with Group A’s opening match pitting the host nation against Ecuador.

On the second day, Iran will play England in the opening match in Group B.

During the group stage, which lasts 12 days, four matches are scheduled to be played each day.

Chance for Qatar to impress

This is a huge opportunity for Qatar as not only is it getting recognized but it’s also an upgrade in the infrastructural development of the country. The organizing committee impressed the FIFA Executive Committee with a stunning architectural vision and an ambitious proposal to harness the power of the sun’s rays to cool players and supporters in an eco-friendly manner, promising to build nine new stadiums and restore another three.

The tournament’s organizers promised to donate 170,000 seats to developing nations to aid in the development of their sporting infrastructure, thus it also promises to leave a lasting impact not just in Qatar but all across the world.

To manage the flood of World Cup visitors, Qatar’s World Cup strategy calls for the building of nearly 55,000 more hotel rooms. To meet the necessities of an economy, there are already plans to double the number of hotel rooms and guest apartments available by 2022, and the government intends to make a sizable investment exceeding $17 billion over the following few years as part of its economic diversification strategies for Qatar National Vision 2030.
