Turning Up The Heat
Which Premier League teams will catch fire in GW28?
Arsenal and Manchester City will contest Sunday’s EFL Cup Final at Wembley Stadium and the two sides will also meet at the Emirates next Thursday in the last of the GW28 Fantasy Premier League fixtures.
Table-topping Manchester City were brought back down to earth with a bang when they were bundled out of the FA Cup by bogey team Wigan Athletic on Monday. The magic of the cup was there for all to see as the Latics pulled off one of the biggest shocks of all time against Pep Guardiola’s charges who had been reduced to 10 men when Fabian Delph was dismissed before half time.
It was almost inevitable that the winning goal would be scored by a striker who has one of the best player chants of all time in the form of ‘Will Grigg’s on Fire’ and the home side milked their success to the hilt, even having the audacity to have an Oasis song echoing around the the DW Stadium at full time.
City’s trip to the Emirates is not the only heavyweight clash taking place in GW28 since Manchester United host Chelsea at Old Trafford on Sunday as well. Neither side is likely to have the ideal preparation for this one though, with the Blues in action against Barcelona on Tuesday and United taking on Sevilla in Spain on Wednesday.
Liverpool and Spurs will therefore be looking to make the most of their own ‘softer’ fixtures as the battle for those Champions League spots heats up and this opportunity is highlighted in our latest goal projections.
Liverpool, who are unbeaten at Anfield this season, will expect to make short work of West Ham United but the visitors will be encouraged by the fact that the Reds have failed to win 6 of their 13 home games.
Spurs’ trip to Selhurst Park on Sunday looks a bit trickier on paper but the Eagles have been rocked by a goalkeeper crisis, so it will be fascinating to see who lines up between the sticks for Crystal Palace.
Elsewhere, there are just 6 points separating 10th placed Bournemouth from 19th placed Stoke City, as the heat really begins to get turned up at both ends of the table!
