Title Credentials On The Line

Will Spurs end table-topping Liverpool’s winning sequence in GW5?

Liverpool face their first big test of the season when they take on Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley in the lunchtime kick-off on Saturday.

The Reds, who came out of the blocks firing on all cylinders in August, have only conceded 1 goal in their opening 4 Premier League games but they will surely expect a much tougher test than what they have faced so far against Spurs this weekend.

Anfield may have turned itself into a bit of a fortress but it is away from home where the Reds’ title aspirations will either flourish or founder. Liverpool were beaten 5 times on the road last season and that record will need to be improved upon if they are to have any chance of ending their long title drought.

Spurs’ shock defeat at Watford in GW4 means that they now find themselves outside of the top 4 and Liverpool are slight favourites to prevail at Wembley according to our GW5 Goal Projections.

Cardiff City are the visitors to Stamford Bridge where patience is starting to wear thin with the misfiring Álvaro Morata.

The Spanish international will need to deliver sooner rather than later if he is to continue to retain his place but perhaps Eden Hazard is the safest alternative to Sergio Agüero this weekend.

The Citizens take on Fulham at the Etihad on Saturday and normal service is expected to be resumed after the champions were held to a draw at Molineux last time out.
