Clash Of The Heavyweights
Manchester United vs Liverpool blockbuster headlines GW21 action
With cup competitions taking centre-stage over the past few days, Fantasy Premier League managers have had a welcome breather from their weekly ritual but ahead of Gameweek 21 and with those recent AFCON departures to factor in, there is certainly plenty to contemplate. However, there is only one place to start, at Old Trafford, where English footballs’ two most successful sides will face-off on Sunday.
José Mourinho will be hoping his side can record a tenth successive victory, which will be achieved if his Manchester United side can defeat Hull City in their EFL Cup semi-final tie, scheduled for Tuesday evening, then follow that up with victory over Liverpool.
Goals are expected to flow but the Manchester side have been installed as a comfortable favourite at almost half a goal.
Arsenal will expect to be among the goals again when they visit Swansea City but a lack of clean sheets is taking its toll on their stuttering title challenge.
Chelsea and Manchester City both have testing away fixtures. The Blues travel to champions’ Leicester City, who are unbeaten in 23 of their last 25 home games, while the Citizens make the short trip to Goodison Park. N’Golo Kanté and John Stones will both be looking to impress, as they face their respective former employers.
Tottenham Hotspur once again displayed their title credentials, when they ended Chelsea’s magnificent winning sequence in a 2-0 win at White Hart Lane, so it’s perhaps no surprise to see them boasting the highest goals expectancy of all the teams playing and they are the strongest GW21 favourites.
Elsewhere, Big Sam will be looking to get his Crystal Palace tenure up and running when he takes his Eagles’ side to the London Stadium, to face one of his former clubs’ West Ham United.
