Records are under serious threat from Pep Guardiola’ rampant Manchester City side

It may have taken a last gasp Raheem Sterling strike for Manchester City to maintain their winning sequence but the delirium at the Etihad was there for all to see.

This does not augur well for Sunday’s visitors West Ham United and the bookmakers are predicting another  hammering for David Moyes’ charges, a fact that is well-reflected in our latest goal lines.

Moyes has every right to be a worried man and if a 4-0 loss at one of his old stamping grounds wasn’t bad enough to stomach, the prospect of things getting even worse on Sunday cannot be far from his thoughts.

This Manchester City team is really beginning to purr and they look more than capable of having a good go at some long-standing Premier League records. The Citizens have already collected 40 out of a possible 42 points, scoring 44 goals in the process but which record will go first? Here are a few to consider:

Successive EPL wins – 14 (Arsenal 2002)

Most points in an EPL season – 95 (Chelsea 2004/05)

Most goals in an EPL season – 103 (Chelsea 2009/10)

Most goals in a Premier League game – 9 (Manchester United 1995, Spurs 2009)

Most goals scored by an individual player in an EPL game – 5 (A. Cole 1995, A. Shearer 1999, J. Defoe 2009)

West Ham can only pray that none of them tumble on Sunday, however, Fantasy Premier League managers with City ‘coverage’ might view things a bit differently!

Assuming that City do make it 13 straight Premier League wins on Sunday, they will get the chance to equal the record at Old Trafford of all places on Matchday 16. Not that a José Mourinho – Pep Guardiola clash needs any extra spice but that could be something to savour!
