FPL Selections For GW13

Catch-up time in the Fantasy Premier League

Gameweek 12 was one to forget. As predicted, the international break played havoc with those line-ups but nobody could have anticipated that Yaya Touré would be brought back in from the cold and deliver in such devastating fashion.

The Ivorian’s reintroduction has certainly thrown a spanner in the works of all those managers (including ourselves) that jumped on the İlkay Gündoğan bandwagon, so let’s see if we can get back on track in Gameweek 13.

Liverpool have the perfect fixture this weekend, with a ridiculously high goals forecast and this would have been the perfect match for our Adam Lallana/Philippe Coutino combination. Unfortunately, the former is ruled out through injury and we don’t have sufficient funds to bring either Roberto Firmino or Sadio Mané into the line-up, so we are going to have to make do with giving Brazilian playmaker Coutinho the arm-band instead!

We’re going to replace Lallana with Gylfi Sigurðsson. Swansea City may be bottom of the table but they have a nice set of fixtures approaching and will need to produce if they are to give themselves any chance of surviving.

The Icelandic international was also deployed as a false 9 in the 1-1 draw at Everton, increasing the fantasy appeal of this known set-piece specialist.

The ‘Out of Position’ Chris Brunt missed out on any assist or goal as West Bromwich Albion went on a scoring blitz in the Monday Night Football but he will retain his place in our 3-man defence alongside Marcos Alonso and Antonio Valencia.

Daley Blind is becoming something of an enigma, flavour of the month one week, then thrown out in the cold the next. The Dutchman, like fellow substitute Andros Townsend, could be facing the exit door. Both players have inflated price tags and we will look to move them on, if there are no clear signals of their potential future value to our squad this weekend.

We need to make a move soon, otherwise we might need to switch our attention to the FPL Cup sooner than anticipated!
