The lessons Diego Costa can learn from Romelu Lukaku

Two of the English Premier League’s deadliest marksmen go head to head on Saturday, when Chelsea entertain Everton at Stamford Bridge.

Oulala have assessed how Diego Costa and Romelu Lukaku measure up against the pick of all of the other Premier League strikers that have scored at least 24 league goals since August 2014 and both forwards make the top 10, in terms of minutes per goal.

Romelu Lukaku seems to be the more complete striker, capable of scoring with either foot and 8 of his 35 Premier League goals in the time frame analysed were headers. He has an exemplary disciplinary record as well, having never served a domestic suspension.

Diego Costa, on the other hand, is just one yellow card away from another ban. He also has just 3 headed goals to show for his efforts in the data set examined and none since March 2015, which is a bit surprising for a player that always seems so keen to put his head in places it really shouldn’t go.

The Chelsea forward’s last headed goal in all competitions came in the 5-1 FA Cup rout of Manchester City in February, when Manuel Pellegrini fielded a make-shift line-up.
